What do you wear when you want to look smart but you don’t want to fresh your butt off? It a dilemma we all seem to face when it cools off – even now in Autumn the nights are FREEZING!

Opt for a thicker material dress
Put away those floaty numbers that are breathable in the summer and opt for a thicker knit dress or even something like a velvet like I’m wearing. Velvet is known for being warm so the shorter sleeves on this Elly M number doesn’t worry me as the thickness everywhere else keeps me nice and toasty. The silhouette is still a fun piece but it’s practical because of how beautifully made and thick it is. Arm yourself with some thicker LBD’s and you’ll be set this winter.

A tailored jacket
Depending on the event your outer wear piece can be as dressy or casual as you want but something like this Elly M Jacket is that perfect in between piece. It’s easily styled casually with trainers and skinny leg jeans then taken into the night with an LBD and clutch. I love the oversized cut because you’re able to eat as much as you’d like and hide a food baby – perfect for those birthdays that you want to over indulge in.

Heeled boots are life
I’m a huge advocate for wearing comfortable shoes where ever and whenever regardless of the event. Heeled boots are the perfect option! I love my Sol Sana Melody Boots because they’re a great height but still uber comfy. Don’t wear something unrealistic because everything hurts more in the cold.

You look so good here Sarah, love that you’re doing more outfit posts :)

Personally I love any kind of a coat but those oversized ones in particular are so perfect for hiding a food baby, well said. I feel like you can’t really go wrong with a nice heeled boot either-they’re my go to for Autumn and Winter especially.

Just picked myself up some heeled boots last week. Loving them! They literally go with everything! Wish I could pull off a jacket like that! You rock it! <3
