The cami trend is here to stay this spring with many affordable brands releasing budget options as well as some of my favourite brands like By Johnny and Keepsake incorporating the trend into their latest collections. It can be a little tricky to style however I’ve discovered some really easy ways to make it a trend that can be worked into your everyday wardrobe.
Switch up the material
A fair chunk of the offerings you’ll find on the market will be a satin material and for me that was never going to work. It’s that little more dressy and for me it wasn’t going to work so when I spotted the IDS Zoe Dress I knew it was going to be the one for me. The cotton dress still has that really fine neckline with a low back (but adjustable straps so you can switch it up) and it really worked well against my existing wardrobe. The best part is that I can adjust this back up to being a higher neckline and wear it alone when the weather warms up. If you’re a bit shy and not wanting to dip your toes into the silky, satin options then keep your eye out for cotton offerings because they’re a fun play on the trend.
Layer something underneath
This is something that most people are doing and having alot of fun with. Another thing that made me sceptical about the trend was the fact I have a decent size chest so I need to wear a strapless bra (who has time to tape their tits for day-to-day right?!). Cue layering and problems are solved! The thing about dresses like this one is they really give you the freedom to layer lots of different options underneath. I’ve popped on my Yeezus tee shirt because I really love the contrast between the Supre Pink Bomber and the darkness underneath. A high neck coloured long sleeve or crop would look equally as fabulous AND allow you to wear a bra – win!
Team it with accessories that make you feel like you
With every trend it’s super important to make it your own and feel like yourself. Although a pink bomber and strappy dress is NOT something I EVER thought I’d be wearing teaming it with the black graphic tee and boots made it my own. Trends are fun and playful but always remember to make them work for you so that you don’t lose your individual style. I also teamed the Cotton On Body Cap and Sol Sana Boots with the look because I can’t go past a cool hat or some ace boots.
