Up until recently I thought shirts were a little scary. I’ve worn sheer white shirts before but never anything else in fear of looking to formal or put together for my individual style. Recently I’ve found some shirt gems that have changed my perception on the wardrobe staple.

The key is finding the right cut that will suit your personal style and then how you style the piece to make it feel like you. I was drooling over the Zulu and Zephyr Stomping Ground Shirt before I even tried it on. I really loved how it was a fresh take a spotty print and the relaxed cut is really great for someone who usually dresses really casually. The soft V neckline meant that without a collar it was more relaxed and then the longline fit means it’s so versatile with wearing it tucked in or knotted in some many different ways. Now I’ve seen it comes in a dress I feel like I need that too!!

If you’re scared of shirts the secret is just finding a cut you love and the boyfriend, relaxed fit with no collar is just perfect for me because my personal style is very casual. I have been wearing it with some black skinny jeans to work and casually with my Ripped Boyfriend Jeans to add a cool, effortless vibe. You know I love a hat so my Lack Of Colour Fedora always makes an appearance for a weekend outfit.

For shoes I’ve been enjoying the lace up sandal trend and these Spendless Shoe ‘Divine’ bad boys are cheap and cheerful but really comfortable at the same time. I also teamed my Betts Ryder Tote Bag with the outfit because I can carry around absolutely everything in it so it’s a great one to take shopping or for weekends away.

Moral of the story don’t be frightened by the thought of wearing shirts! Instead look for unique cuts and prints that suit you and your individual style!

I have 2 blouses (or shirts as you call them). Both are very simple; one being plain black & the other being tan but the cuts/styles are great. The black one has the cross over deep V line effect (which is me without any effort) and the tan is a flowy, slightly sheer, button up so I can spice that up by wearing a cute bralette underneath and/or leave it slightly unbuttoned up the top.

You’ve inspired me to wear the tan option tomorrow to work!

Haha! You will actually love it Mel! I can’t stop wearing mine… So much so I’m even eyeing up a dress with the same neckline but it’s striped hehe. Defs let me know if you buy – send me a snap! It’s the ultimate day-to-night shirt (soz for being an enabler!). And thank you for the feedback I’m really enjoying more fashion-y stuff and Isaac and I are enjoying shooting together so for now they’ll keep coming. After two and a bit years of mainly beauty content I’m feeling really inspired by doing style posts :)
