IMG_9115It’s hard enough going to work every morning sometimes, and it’s definitely tiring every day. One thing you don’t want to be worrying about is whether your make up looks tired. I commute two hours to work and another two hours back every day and getting home from work looking like I’ve been through the wars is not ideal. I’ve had over a year of testing my make up to find the best pieces and I think I’ve finally found some reliable ones.

Other than a good primer, base is always a sure-fire way of helping most make up stay longer. The L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation (full review here) is an incredibly long lasting base. It’s high coverage so manages to hide a multitude of sins (wakeless nights, hormonal blemishes etc), and it keeps that coverage for most of the day. It’s mattifying as well so it’s great for making sure oily skin doesn’t slide away and glues all other make up to your face in the process.

To add a lovely natural, long lasting blush, I would always recommend the new Bourjous 12 hour Aqua Blush. It’s a very watery consistency, which assists in its natural finish, but also means it melds with your long lasting base and lasts just as long. Eye make up has always been an issue for longevity for me as well, especially liner. However, the Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hour Cream Eyeshadows are the longest lasting I have ever come across and don’t crease. They will stay until you remove them, and they have passed the commuting test over and over again. Along with the Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner, cheap as chips but the best eyeliner I have ever used. It doesn’t transfer to the top of the lids and it’ll still be there after drinks in the evening. Lastly a flick on Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara and your eyes are set for the whole day.

Lastly we move onto lips, now I have never found a lipstick that will last ALL day, however, finding one that is still there by lunch time after hot stuffy trains is another story. The Maybelline ColorDrama Lip Pencils are insane at staying power without being drying. A quick touch up before drinks and you’re fine.

Finding make up that stays for you is always tricky, however trial and error is your friend, as is primer. More than anything, you just need make up you can trust, and as you can see from these picks, they don’t need to cost you a fortune.

Great job on your first MTA post! I must say, I haven’t had good experiences with the Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadows but I’m inspired to give them another try, having read this! Looking forward to more of your posts x

Thanks for the feedback Kristyn! Loved reading this post by our Lisa as well. I prefer the Maxfactor shadow pots to the Maybelline but definitely let us know how you go with them :) xx

So I bought Inked in Pink and Barely Branded – I’m obsessed with the Pink and use it almost every day! But I can’t seem to make the Branded work for me in terms of consistency. Thank you for this post though – Pink has made my morning routine a lot easier (as silly as that sounds!) xx
