The ‘strobing’ beauty trend…. Much like the contouring trend it’s everywhere at the moment and it has a few people (myself included at first) confused. What is it? How do you do it? Well here is a little explanation and guide to help you strobe your face without all the confusing lingo.
Strobing isn’t actually a new technique in the beauty industry.. It’s just a trend. *breaths sigh of relief*
Strobing is all about making your skin look healthy and glowing with a combination a skincare, creams and powder illuminators. It’s all about the #glow. You may have seen the #strobing tag on Instagram and been a little intimidated but it’s fairly easy to adapt the technique into your everyday routine.
Glistening products will add something a little more subtle to face - try creamy formulations like primers or cream illuminators to give you that ‘lit from within’ look. I absolutely love the Laura Mercier Radiance Primer and the Clarins Radiance Boosters for mixing in with foundations. This will give you a glowy look without looking OTT for everyday. It’s also really gorgeous to mix either of these with a super light base like a tinted moisturiser, try Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser for something easy to work with, to give a fresh-faced look.
Another way to get the highlighted look is by using powder highlighters. If you’ve got oilier skin then this is a great way to add some glow without looking like a grease ball throughout the day. Adding the powders to the top of your cheekbones, brow bones, inner corner of your eye and cupids bow are great ways to give you that illuminated looked. Some of my favourites are The Balm’s Mary Lou Manizer and Mac Soft and Gentle.
If your after something a little more intense? Do both! If you dare ;)

One of my favourites is Benefit’s Watts Up! It’s great and the creamy constancy makes it appear a little wet on the skin. It’s also really long lasting and one of the most intense highlighters I own.

So funny that it’s suddenly called ‘strobing’. I’ve been trying to achieve a bright glowy look for years! I love Mary Lou Manizer or Benefit’s Watts Up for my perfect highlight.

I think I’ve been strobing before the word even existed. I cannot get enough of that glowy look and highlighters! They’re by far my favourite makeup product to use, love Soft and Gentle especially.

Mary Lou is stunning! So in Cindy Lou :) xx
I love the highlighted look! I swear by Hourglass products, but lately I’ve been obsessed with Josie Maran’s Brightening Balm. I use it as a primer and it seriously makes my skin look perfectly glow-y. xo

Ooo that sounds so interesting! I must look into it.
I love this trend! These highlighters sound so good, its a shame the drugstore is lacking in the perfect highlighter/ illuminator department… does anyone have any budget recommendations?

It’s so worth it! Looks gorgeous on the skin x
I just highlight as I usually do - top of the cheekbones is about enough for me for a day look! I’d love to try mixing a liquid highlighter with my foundation, but my skin is a bit on the combination to oily side as of late, so it might be something I can try in winter. I just got Champagne Pop and I love it, plus the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (liquid) in Opal :) xx

I need to order some Becca! Everyone raves about it x
I’ve really gotten into strobing lately with Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector liquid in Opal. I still love bronzing though ;)
