It’s been a while between book posts and to be honest for a while there I just wasn’t finding the time to read. Now I’m making a conscious effort to spend 15-20 minutes every night reading so that I unwind and ready for sleep instead of being on my phone. I really wanted to share three books I’m loving and get any book recommendations off you guys!
I spoke about ‘The Wrong Girl’ a few weeks ago and the reason that this was on my bedside was in preparation for the TV series that is coming out this year sometime. The story line is quite basic following the main character Lily as she faces work, friendship and general life hardship whilst working as a TV presenter. It’s a fairly lighthearted easy read that uses colloquial language throughout making the scenes very relatable – like you’re reading something your bestie wrote. I did enjoy the read and I look forward to the TV series but I wasn’t blown away by it! If you love Zoe OR are planning to watch the series it is worth reading and I’m keen to see how it translates onto the screen.
Next up I’ve been flicking my way through ‘Happy Handmade Home’ by the girls over from A Beautiful Mess. This is filled to the brim of easy ways to brighten up the home and I really like the affordable suggestions throughout the book. We’re still in a rental which we didn’t think we would be however with the wedding coming up we’ve decided to stay put for another 12-18 months just so we’re not stressing about money. Therefore I really want to brighten up the house and make it feel more like ours which is something we’ve never really made the effort to do as buying was in the foreseeable future. The way this book is set out with photos, suggestions and DIY is fab so it’s one to check out if you’re looking to make some little (or big!) changes around the house.
Lastly is what I’m currently reading and hooked on – ‘The . In the airport on the way home from Queensland last week I really wanted a book to read because everyone I was travelling with was reading on the way up and I felt annoyed I hadn’t thought to buy something for the trip. I couldn’t be bother, and didn’t have the time, to stand their reading blurbs and this book has been spoken about by so many people I just grabbed it. The first say 50 pages were hard and slightly confusing but once you establish what is happening it really grabs you. The book is set in the 1960’s and is about a young girl who finds this cult where is feels like she belongs. Anyway I don’t want to give to much away but it’s so interesting and really has me hooked! Alot of people have been saying they didn’t love the ending so we’ll see what I think and I’ll update you on twitter.
What are you currently reading? Do you have any book recommendations?
