Blonde hair is definitely one of the most high maintenance hair colours you can have and there isn’t any doubt that can be hard to manage. Finding the right products to do the job can be difficult so here are a few recommendations and tips that’ll have you and your locks sorted.

First and most importantly you must be using a purple shampoo to prolong the colour. These shampoos will cancel out any sort of brassy orange hues keeping it looking fresh – it makes all the difference! The Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo + Conditioner are great for once a week treatments, same with the Schwarzkopf BC Color Freeze Silver Shampoo, which means you can use your usual moisturising or volumising duos without a worry. I find the Fudge extremely effective at really brightening up your colour but, like most blonde duos, it can be a little drying.

If you’re after a duo that you can use every day and save yourself from fussing around with two different sets of shampoo and conditioners in your shower the Bed Head Tigi Dumb Blonde Shampoo and Reconstructor is a great option. The purple pigment isn’t as strong as in other duos but it’s still there and does keep your hair in check. The best part about this duo is the fact that the conditioner is more like a thicker mask so it’s extremely moisturising. These are the ones I’m currently using and loving.

Another real necessity is a good hair mask. Bleaching your hair really can take it’s toll so this will help mend the hair follicle and keep your locks looking healthy. I absolutely love and have used the Toni & Guy Reconstruction Mask for years. It’s affordable, does an amazing job at hydrating the hair and doesn’t cause it to become overly frizzy either. If you’re not a lover of hair masks then substitute it for a hair oil or leave in treatment for extra hydration.
