When I first found Julia’s website The Sunday Mode I instantly felt like it was a safe space… Kind of like someone I knew and understood. Moving on from my creepiness when Julia advertised with us I was excited for more of you to discover her website. Here is a little more about Julia and The Sunday Mode.
Why do you love writing? What made you create The Sunday Mode?
I’d been reading blogs for a couple of years, I started when I was in high school and kept reading them all throughout university as well. I’d always admired bloggers but didn’t really think it was something I could do myself, I have a tendency to think other people can do things but I can’t! Even though I did a very creative uni course I still wanted to give blogging a whirl myself; I felt like I had a lot of ideas but no real outlet to express them. Once I graduated everything in my life was changing anyway so it seemed like the perfect time to ditch the excuses and finally start my own blog.
What will people find over on your site?
A healthy mix of beauty related posts, outfit of the days, travel diaries and general lifestyle content- it’s a bit of everything rolled into one because that’s just my personality, I don’t think I’d ever be able to stick to writing about just one thing.
Where do you draw your inspiration from? Any favourite places you look too?
I’d say my main source of inspiration comes from other blogs and bloggers. The quality of some people’s blogs just blows me away. I think a lot of the time the content and photography I see on blogs far exceeds what I see in big publications which is insane!
What three products are you loving at the moment?
Beauty wise I’m loving the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel, MAC Patisserie lipstick and my LORAC Pro Palette (I finally got it and it’s so good!).
Spill the contents of your handbag… Is there anything inside that we’ll never find you without?
I swap bags all the time so I don’t tend to carry much around with me but no matter what, my phone is always stuck to me like glue!
Finish these sentences…
It’s kind of embarrassing but I love…kids TV shows. All of the shows I used to watch and love as a kid like Arthur, The Wild Thornberrys and Sabrina have now officially become my guilty pleasure shows.
The first thing I do every morning is…turn off my electric blanket. I’m always cold so a lot of the time I subconsciously turn my electric blanket on while I’m sleeping so I can warm up a little. I’m one of those people who sleeps with three blankets and a doona when it’s 40 degrees outside.
On Saturday night you’ll find me…in my pyjamas having a Netflix marathon.
I’m happiest when…I’m travelling.
I’m currently reading…Columbine by Dave Cullen.
My celeb crush is…tied between Jessie Williams, Theo James and Henry Cavill.
What’s in store for 2016 for you and your site?
In 2016 I’ve got some really exciting travel plans on the cards, including a U.S trip which means I should probably just transfer all my money to Sephora now because I plan to buy so much from there. My travelling will inevitably spill over to The Sunday Mode as well so expect to see a lot more travel related content and hopefully some really beautiful overseas shoots. I also plan to try and be a bit more social in 2016, I’d love to meet other Australian bloggers, hold a meet-up or do something along those lines. Other than that I plan to just go where the wind takes me!
Don’t forget you can advertise with us here and use the use ‘newyear’ at the checkout for 20% off all spots until 15th of Jan
