LUXE VS LESS: DRY SHAMPOOS

luxe-vs-less-dry-shampoos

The latest show down in ‘Luxe Vs Less’ is dry shampoo! Designed to help prolong styles, reduce washes and absorb excess oil the hairstyling gem has taken the beauty world by storm in the past few years.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is possibly the most popular affordable option retailing for $12.95 and frequently on sale it’s no surprise that it is so damn popular. This particular version is the Strength & Shine Dry Shampoo which is an enriched version of the regular formulation because it has a special amino acid called L-Arginine that is known for stimulating the hair’s follicles making it appear naturally shiny. Although I appreciate the unique concept I am still undecided if it makes THAT much of a difference in the shine department however in terms of absorbing oil it is a fabulous option. Spray through roots, leave for a few minutes then brush through for an instant refresh.

The Kevin Murphy Fresh.Hair is super sleek with it’s simple white packaging and matte finish bottle. Aesthetics aside the product preforms amazingly, absorbing oil with a tiny spritz and smelling great at the same time. Coming in at $38.95 it is definitely a more luxurious purchase which some might think is crazy for an everyday staple like dry shampoo BUT a little goes a VERY long way so the bottle is long lasting meaning you do really get bang for you buck. I also find no touch ups are needed throughout the day when using this particular formulation which is a huge win in my books.

So who comes out on top? Well it really does depend what you’re after. If you’re needing something to use on the daily and use alot of it the Batiste will see you through however if you’re wanting that doesn’t require as much work to work into the roots with no touch ups throughout the day needed then the Kevin Murphy is a fantastic option. For me I’ll be sticking to Kevin Murphy Fresh.Hair FOREVA!

I actually am not a massive fan of Batiste Dry Shampoo. It might have just been bad experience with a particular type that I tried but it was easily the worst dry shampoo I have ever used. My favourite is the Toni and Guy Dry Shampoo, it is not expensive and has quite a nice scent – and it actually works! I haven’t tried the Kevin Murphy one but if it is anything like their shampoos and conditioners it must be amazing! x
