When it comes to wearing an all black ensemble I am there! My 15 year old emo phase taught me that it’s okay to dress in a monotone if you want too but luckily now I’ve managed to ditch the side fringe and balance the outfit out so I’m not looking as drab. Here are some things I’ve learnt for dressing all in black.

Mix it up with texture
One of the key things to work with is texture. It goes with wearing any sort of colour as an entirety if you mix up the different textures in the outfit people probably won’t even notice. Here I’ve gone for a Little Lies Tee (from The Hidden Boutique), One Teaspoon Bandit ShortsBetts Ryder Tote Bag and second hand black booties I scored off Depop. Cotton, leather, denim and even a little suede on the bag – it keeps everything interesting and not looking so flat. I particularly love the combination of silk or sheer materials with leather too. So. Freaking. Cool.

Stripes are your best friend
I could make an excuse for stripes every single day of the week but seriously in a casual outfit like this they’re a surefire way to break things up. You’re still wearing mainly black but the pattern just gives the eye a break so it gives the illusion that it’s not so heavy. Trust me, it works.

A bold lip and nail polish always work
Wearing all black with a bold lip is my favourite thing to do! The great thing is that you can choose any shade because there isn’t any other colour tones to consider. I’m wearing Essie Sunshine State Of Mind (full review) on my nails and toes and Shanghai Suzy Miss Andrea Tangerine (full review) on the lips. Both are bold oranges that I cannot get enough of!

OWN IT
Even if you’re not mixing textures or breaking it up with stripes or whatever if you’re loving it then OWN IT! The best thing about fashion is seeing someone walking down the street just killing it and being totally confident with their own individual style and look. Own it and everyone else will love it too!
