I love doing red lips at this time of year and I thought I’d share with you my go-to combination. This look is a super simple look, will work for any Christmas Party or event you’re attending this season and it’s so quick to do!

Step 1: Start off with cleans, moisturised skin. If you can always make sure to let your moisturiser skin for at least 20 minutes in before going in with make up. Why? It helps prep the skin and give you a nice smooth surface to apply everything on top of. My favourite moisturiser of the moment is Dermalogica Active Moist, combination/oily girls you need it!
Step 2: Apply an illuminating primer all over the face. I really love the Arbonne Sheer Glow Highlighter as a primer because it’s subtle but gives you a ‘lit from within’ glow. You can use your hands to apply but I prefer a brush.
Step 3: Next up you need to apply your foundation that you know and trust, especially if it’s going to be a long night. I love the Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation for a good medium coverage that is long-lasting.
Step 4: If you feel like you need concealer apply to problem areas. I used a tiny amount of the Clarins Instant Concealer under my eyes to brighten and hide any discolouration (it’s great over blemishes too!). I don’t set this foundation as I find it
Step 5: Take a medium taupe or brown shade on a large fluffy brush through the crease. I’ve been loving my L’oreal Paris Colour Riche Pure in ‘Breaking Nude’ for crease work and it’s super affordable which is a win!
Step 6: Now simply take any shimmery highlight shade or pigment and press all over the lid. Layer it up for something super intense or do a sheer wash – whatever you preference is go for it! I used the shimmery flesh-toned colour from the new Australis Bronzey Girl Eyeshadow Palette but any you have on hand will do the trick!
Step 7: Apply eyeliner as you like. I never wear eyeliner so I opted for the ELES Powderliner in ‘Copper’ on the outer third of my top lash line just to help give my eye some definition but if you would like to do a wing go for it! A wing would look amazing with the red lip too :)
Step 8: Take a matte highlight shade under the brow bone and too clean up any harsh lines in the eye shadow. I love the Face Stockholm Matte Shadow in ‘Chiffon’ that I got in a subscription box years ago.
Step 9: Curl those lashes and apply lots of layers of your favourite mascara. My dynamic duo is the Shu Umera Eyelash Curler and the Maybelline Big Eyes Waterproof Mascara that holds a curl amazingly. Be sure to add fake lashes if you’d like!
Step 10: Do those brows gurl. My choice of brow product at the moment is the L’oreal Brow Artist Plumper which is seriously amazing for everyday!
Step 11 & 12: Because I’m going to be using a matte lipstick I decided to go for a little bronzer on the cheeks using Nars Laguna on a fluffy brush (sad days I just hit pan on this bad boy!). I love doing really glowy skin when I’m doing a matte lip so I’ve teamed that with The Balm Mary-Lou Manzier but feel free to skip this step :)
Step 13 & 14: Line those lips using a liner for all day/night wear and it’ll make applying lipstick straight from the bullet alot easier. I used Bourjois Paris Contour Edition in Tout Rouge and then Mac Ruby Woo over top. Make sure to layer up if you’re going to be out all night!
The shimmer of the eyeshadow really didn’t pick up on camera but it’s the just gorgeous – simple but stunning. I love the glowy skin with the matte lip contrast, it’s one of my favourite ways to subtly change up my look. This is super customisable for whatever event you’re attending just add a bit of winged eyeliner and some lashes. I opted for something a bit more natural as I had to attend work after shooting this #bloggerskeepingitreal ;)
