ESSIE WINTER COLLECTION REVIEW & SWATCHES

essie-winter-2016-collection

Now that it’s winter we are seeing all the beautiful wintery collections hit the stores shelves and I couldn’t be more excited! The Essie winter line up consists of 6 shades and it’s a little bit alternative for a winter collection.

Usually we see brands release dark vampy shades for lips and nails but this collection is alot softer than I expected which is refreshing. Think feminine with a touch of edge and that is what the colour line up is – some soft colours, glitters with a few deep shades but nothing overly dark. Peak Show is the lightest offering and it’s a milky pink that’ll be perfect for work or understated looks. The formulation is a little sheer so I recommend two coats for a nude look and three is you’re after an opaque colour. Next up is Virgin Snow a beautiful pastel purple it’s punchy and vibirant on the nails which is exactly what I look for with pastel shades. It also teams perfectly with Apres-chic an intense micro-glitter that all kinds of wonderful with just about any nail colour for a pop.

Onto some darker shades and the most unusual is Haute Tub a dark purple with micro-glitter throughout. I can see this being beautiful on the nails but it’s not something I’ll personally reach for. Formulation wise it is a little sheer to start off with so I recommend 2-3 coats. Altitude Attitude and Shall We Chalet? are both shades I would expect to see in a winter collection those classics red hues. They’re both beautiful and the cream formulation is just heavenly to apply.

Available from Priceline and Essie retailers now!

Have you picked up any shades from this collection? What were your thoughts?

I haven’t (yet), but as soon as I saw this collection 6 months back I knew I’d be buying stuff from it. I’m itching to get my hands on all of them except Haute Tub because the colour’s not my thing. Not entirely sure which of the reds will suit me best, but I figure I’ll buy both just to compare.

I remember you saying that on the last collection :) love this one so much! The reds are beautiful you’ll probably end up getting wear out of both xx
