Okay so this one is going to be a little bit lengthy because I couldn’t narrow it down. This year I became a lot more comfortable in my routine and realised what worked for me and what didn’t. Here are my top make up discoveries from 2015.

Have you seen my top 5 hair discoveries of my top 6 picks for skin yet? They’re all pretty ace!

I want to quickly shout out the Maxfactor Facefinity All Day Primer that I love because I completely forgot about it on my list and in the photo. It’s my everyday staple primer that smooths the skin without making it feel tacky and really does prolong the wear of your foundation. It’s the best basic, no frills primer that I’ve used. On top of that I’ve been using a rotation of two foundations for most of the year. The first being the Clarins Extra Comfort Foundation (and an honourable mention to the Clarins Everlasting Foundation, full review here) that has seen me through the hottest of days without budging. The trick is a very tiny amount blended super well into the skin. It’s gorgeous! I have a full review on it here. As for the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation it’s a really fantastic alternative to the Laura Mercier Silk Creme as it’s along the same lines with coverage and texture. This one does break apart on the forehead and transfers throughout the day, on my oily skin anyway, but for the price it’s such a steal!

This year I tried alot more contouring products and fell in love with cream contouring especially with the Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Stick in Bronze Glow. I don’t think this product is designed for contouring however I really love the natural, luminous finish it gives the skin. The formulation of these blush sticks is awesome, very creamy and blendable but still last throughout the day.

Experimenting with different types of eyeliner was a big thing for me this year and a late in the year discovery was the Sisley Paris So Intense Eyeliner. I’ve done a full review of this one here but it’s safe to say I’ve founded my favourite liquid eyeliner of all time. It’s smooth, black as black and so long-lasting. Although expensive I think it’s worth the splurge. On the gel eyeliner front I found the Laura Mercier Gel Eyeliners.. Again I have a full review on these as all but oh my gosh they’re so fantastic to work with.

For eyeshadow I discovered the Zoeva Blend Cocoa Palette and the Clarins Ombre Eyeshadows. The later being a pressed pigmented gloriously shimmery delight to use and the Zoeva being a fantastic affordable option. Both a surprise but easily some of my favourite products I’ve found this year. The palette review and swatches can be found here. A product I hadn’t mentioned too much is the Eye of Horus Brow Pencil but it’s what I’ve used everyday for the past six months. It’s smooth with a fine nib and creates naturally looking brows. A great shade for blondes too!

It was the year that I discovered in order for my eyelashes to stay up I’m going to have to wear waterproof mascara. The Maybelline Pumped up! Colossal Volume Express is one was my fave offering a great amount of hold, giving the lashes lots of volume and definition which is exactly what I need. It has a huge wand that can make applying a little difficult however I’m willing to go through it because of the look I get with this particular mascara is absolutely amazing! When using the L’oreal False Lash Butterfly Wings I would say the look is similar to the Maybelline however maybe slightly less dramatic. It’s got a very unique want but I like the way the wand cups the lashes allowing you to coat each and every lash very easily. This formulation is slightly more wet as well meaning it can be hard to control and there can be a few more clumps however after about 2-3 weeks the formula dries up a little making it easier to work with. If I had to choose one it would be the Maybelline but I do really love the brush on this one.

For lips this year my standout discoveries were easy to pick. The first being the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks which has taken the beauty community by storm over the past year. The collection review and swatches will tell all but know they’re such an incredible product with some fun colours and some more wearable ones too. The lipsticks I couldn’t put down since the beginning of the year was Shanghai Suzy Miss Tanielle Desert Rose. I finished two complete bullets of this one and couldn’t love it anymore than I already do. Jo you amazing human thank you for yet another beautiful collection!

Oooh! I spot two of my favourites in the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette as well as the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation! I have been loving both throughout 2015 as well. I also only recently discovered the Max Factor Facefinity primer and it’s one of my new favourites. Great post Sarah!

Completely agree, the cover girl foundation really is great! I have dry skin and it works really well for me!

I always trust your judgement. I tried the covergirl foundation and I loved it! It was a tad too dark for me though but the formula was great & it was still wearable. I doubt anyone notices that its not an exact match but me.
I might have to try that primer next. I’ve never gotten into primers!
I didn’t really discover anything new that I loved this year, I hardly bought anything new because I have so much stuff to use up!

Aww thanks Mel! Glad you enjoyed the Covergirl foundation… Honestly mine is a tad too dark as well but when I ask my boyfriend/friends they can never notice so I’m sure it’s the same for you. The primer is really fantastic! I used up my Laura Mercier Primer and was going to repurchase but the Maxfactor is such a good alternative at a fraction of the price… Let me know how you get on with it :)

So many products here I’ve actually never heard of, which I like because it makes me keep my eyes out for them. Really love the look of the zoeva palette, I think I might wait a while to grab it though, I’ve been going palette crazy lately!

I just got the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette in the mail at the end of November and it’s really deserves all the hype it got – it’s fantastic and affordable! I will make it my goal to try the Max Factor primer next year – I’ve heard so many good things :) xx
