Given the Kylie Lip Kit craze it seems that the matte liquid lipstick trend is well and truly here to stay. Now we’re seeing almost everyday brand from the pharmacy and department store releasing their own take on the long-lasting lipstick and I can’t say that I’m complaining.

Hourglass Opaque Rouges - shade above is Riviera
This is an old favourite and the first liquid lipstick I ever bought. These one swipe wonders offer a great colour range of bold colours with a few nudes thrown into the mix as well. Proper lip care and preparation is 100% required as the formulation is quite dry and can look a little flakey throughout the day. They also don’t touch up that well as the formulation is quite dry they can ball up if you apply over the product over the top. Although I sound very negative I do love this formulation for all day no-budge wear and you cannot go past the brightness of Riviera.
L’STAJ Liquid Lipstick - shade above is Lady Seductive
L’STAJ is a liquid lipstick only brand with a very small micro-collection. The way these feel on the lips is dreamy - you can’t actually feel them once they’ve applied and even at the 8 hour mark they feel quite comfortable. Unlike some other formulations these don’t flake off either instead the wear throughout the day is more of a fade which is perfect if you’re on the go. The applicator is great however I find that too much product is dispensed every time you pull it out of the tube so be careful and always wipe away excess product before applying to avoid a disaster!
Model Rock Cosmetic Liquid Lipstick - shade above is Major Betsy
I’ve done a full swatch and review on these bad boys where I raved about the relatively newly released offerings. The range is quite heavily outweighed with that trendy nude/brown colour with the addition of a few classic reds however I like the combination. The formulation is extremely light-weight, very comparable to the L’STAJ, and long-lasting without flaking off. These are probably my pick from today’s line up BUT I do hope to see more of a vast colour range in the future.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick - shade above is Posh Spice
Another range I have done a full review on it the ecliptic range from Jeffree Star. The applicator is incredible because it allows enough product to pool in the centre for your whole lips meaning you don’t have to double dip and it’s intense within one swipe. It’s not something I would recommend layering as this formula does ball up when applied over and over. If you’re daring with trying different, unique shade it’s a range to look into because there are some cray colours available.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colours - shade above is Addiction
These are a relatively new release to the Australian mark and it’s an interesting product. When applied they take a long time to set up on the lips which can be annoying however it means that they’re uber comfortable for longer and you don’t get that ‘oh my god I need a lip balm feeling’. I’m still testing these out (full review coming soon) however on initial report they’re a good affordable option if you don’t mind having a semi-matte lip for the first hour.
